I can't even put my love of this book into words. When I heard about it, I was immediately intrigued. Dorothy came back to Oz and became its evil ruler? Count me in! I waited and waited on this book from the library and when I got it, I dug right in! Dorothy Must Die was SO amazing! I love twists and retellings of classic stories and fairy tales, and this one is definitely one of the best.
The main character is Amy. She is the 'other girl' from Kansas. She lives in modern day, and gets sucked into Oz via, you guessed it, tornado. Amy really grows over the course of the book. She goes from girl simply wishing to get out of her life, to being the one to make changes and take charge.
The end of the book really surprised me. Probably because I was expecting the book to be a standalone. I flew through the last few chapters, dying to see what was going to happen next, only to find out that there were two more books. Cliffhanger doesn't even begin to cover the ending of this amazing book.
As I said before, I love retellings. I love trying to figure out which character is who and what's changed about the plot. Some of my favorites, which you should definitely try if you enjoy Dorothy Must Die, are Cruel Beauty, Wicked, Splintered, Cinder, and Alice in Zombieland! Dorothy Must Die was incredibly fun and I am waiting on the edge of my seat for the next book!

Synopsis:
I didn't ask for any of this. I didn't ask to be some kind of hero.
But when your whole life gets swept up by a tornado—taking you with it—you have no choice but to go along, you know?
Sure, I've read the books. I've seen the movies. I know the song about the rainbow and the happy little blue birds. But I never expected Oz to look like this. To be a place where Good Witches can't be trusted, Wicked Witches may just be the good guys, and winged monkeys can be executed for acts of rebellion. There's still the yellow brick road, though—but even that's crumbling.
What happened?
Dorothy. They say she found a way to come back to Oz. They say she seized power and the power went to her head. And now no one is safe.
My name is Amy Gumm—and I'm the other girl from Kansas.
I've been recruited by the Revolutionary Order of the Wicked.
I've been trained to fight.
And I have a mission:
Remove the Tin Woodman's heart.
Steal the Scarecrow's brain.
Take the Lion's courage.
Then and only then—Dorothy must die!
